Current TV slot on the block

The Sky EPG position held by Current TV has been put up for sale. It follows the failure of the Al Gore-backed news and comment channel to reach agreement with BSkyB.

Current TV, which is also carried by Virgin Media, seems likely to close on March 11.

Canis Media has been appointed to sell the EPG slot, 183 in the Entertainment genre, though it is anticipated the position will move to 181 during Sky’s reshuffle of the Entertainment genre in mid April.

The EPG broker already has a second slot in the Lifestyle genre that was advertised in early January.

Combined with the recent closure of Press TV, brought about by the withdrawal of the Iranian-backed channel’s licence by the regulator Ofcom, it means at least three EPG slots are currently available on Sky.
