Sky Deuschland subscribers will be able to see Astra’s HD+ bouquet of private broadcasters’ channels – RTL HD, Vox HD, RTL 2 HD, Sat.1 HD, ProSieben HD, Kabel eins HD, Sixx HD and Sport1 HD – from tomorrow (June 1).
The channels will be available free of charge for the first 12 months, after which viewers will have to pay an ‘administrative fee’ of €50 per year. The HD+ channels will be decrypted using the same receiver and smart card.
The availability of the HD+ channels is the result of an agreement between Sky Deustchland and SES Astra’s HD+ platform. HD+ is the service for HD versions of Germany’s private channels.
With the addition of the eight HD+ channels, Sky D subscribers will have access to a total of 25 HD channels, also including five FTA channels on satellite, ARD Das Erste HD, ZDF HD, Arte HD, Anixe HD and Servus TV HD.
Sky D plans to expand the total number of available HD channels to 30 before the end of the year, 15 of which will be exclusive to Sky subscribers
