    New delay for Astra 3B

The launch of the new Astra 3B satellite has been postponed yet again. According to SES Astra, the decision has been taken by Arianespace following the detection of an anomaly in the launch vehicle’s pressurization system.

A new launch date will be communicated in due time.

Astra 3B was due to be launched onboard an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou, French Guiana yesterday (Friday, April 9). The original launch was set for March 24 but was then put back by two days. Then, it was delayed still further by what was described as an anomaly in the launch system.

The launch vehicle’s payload will consist of the Astra 3B and ComsatBw-2 satellites, with the former, which will be located at 23.5 degrees East, delivering DTH broadcast services mainly to Benelux and Central and Eastern Europe.
