The Czech/Slovak pre-pay DTH service Skylink has enjoyed an unexpected surge in new customers following an anti-piracy move by one of its main rivals earlier this month.
Speaking to Parabola, Jaromir Glisnik, the CEO of TradeTec, said that when the Romanian-owned platform Digi TV stopped using the old Nagravision 2 system, Skylink sold 18,000 cards in just 30 minutes on the following day and has since been selling 3,000 daily.
Skylink reached the landmark figure of one million active cards on April 6 this year. Of these, 715,000 were in the Czech Republic and 285,000 in Slovakia.
