Bolivia choses ISDB-T
Europe is missing the train in Latin America’s DTT standards choice, with DVB again losing out. Some countries have already chosen the Japanese-Brazilian ISDB-T joint-venture standard and now it is Bolivia's turn to do so.
ISDB-T is the same model as chosen recently by neighbour Chile. Bolivia becomes the 11th worldwide country to make this decision, including Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela, as well as the Philippines.
The implementation of the standard in Bolivia could take as long as two years according to the country's government. Bolivia wil count on Japan's collaboration in getting the technology and technical formation. First tests will be implemented next year with the standard and the government hopes it will be fully operational one year later.
