Polsat eyes sports news channel
Poland could see the launch of a further sports new channel before the end of this year.
Wirtualne Media reports that the commercial station Polsat has applied to the country’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) for a licence to operate a satellite-delivered service named Polsat Sport News.
Polsat would like to launch the channel by the end of the year and distribute it on its DTH operation Cyfrowy Polsat. There is also the possibility it might be distributed by DTT.
Poland already has two sports news channels – nSport and Orange Sport – which have a combined viewing share of less than 1%. Polsat Sport News would be Polsat’s fifth sports channel, the others being Polsat Sport, Polsat Sport Extra, Polsat Sport HD and Polsat Futbol.
