The end of analogue TV in the UK is nigh – May was the first month on record that no analogue TV sets were sold in Britain, according to Digital UK, the organisation tasked with implementing the switch to digital.
Analogue TV sets have been superseded by digital sets as the UK prepares to switch off all analogue broadcasts in 2012. Five million homes have gone through the switchover process, with a further 11 million set to follow next year.
About one million TVs are bought each month in the UK, with an average price of £400 (€484).
