Brazil wants Africa to adopt ISDB-T
During his tour in Africa, Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio da Silva, will negotiate with several other countries' officers the adoption of ISDB-T. Expectations are good since technicians from 17 countries of the region have already approved it and support the system. In Brazil, Africans are expected to take their decision by September.
The official visit will happen from July 3 to 11. Da Silva will give every minister from every country a commitment letter guaranteeing the technology transfer and royalties opening. Likewise, he will commit himself to donating labs for the production of audiovisual material, to providing Brazilian human resources and to training personnel. Those technicians who have already supported the system belong to the Development Community of Austral Africa, made up by several countries. The Brazilian Government estimates that such agency will take a decision by September though all members are forced to adopt the same TDT standard.
"For Africans, our system is more interesting mainly because it associates digital TV with interactivity, which in the European standard is very limited", commented Casa Civil do Brazil advisor, André Barbosa. "It worked perfectly well. Now, (technicians) will submit their conclusions before ministers. Europe knows it will lose this competition because our system is much better", the officer concluded. The presidential visit includes South Africa, Guinea, Angola, Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique among others in the region.
