Analyst Rich Greenfield Lands at BTIG
Joins Piecyk to Create New Research Effort
    Mike Farrell --, 3/1/2010 3:55:00 PM

Less than a month after reports that Pali Research would shut its doors, long-time media analyst Richard Greenfield has landed a new gig, creating a research division for New York investment brokerage BTIG.
Greenfield, along with his former Pali Research colleague Walt Piecyk, will lead BTIG's new research effort, focusing on the media, cable, satellite and telecom industries.
Greenfield is a veteran of the cable industry, covering the sector for eight years at Goldman Sachs before switching to independent brokerage Fulcrum Global Partners in 2003. Greenfield stayed at Fulcrum for four years before launching Pali's research arm in 2007 with Piecyk, himself a Fulcrum alumnus.
"Rich and Walt both have strong reputations as top analysts in their respective sectors," said BTIG head of global resources Oliver Wiener, in a statement. "They are exceptional additions to the firm and will be instrumental in the continued development and growth of BTIG."
According to reports in the Wall Street Journal, Pali shut its doors in mid-February after attempts to find a buyer failed.
BTIG was founded in 2002 and has more than 375 employees worldwide. The company offers services in several divisions: Equity Trading, Fixed Income, Prime Brokerage, Outsource Trading, Direct Market Access, Capital Markets and Corporate Access.
