Danish broadcaster TV2 Sport is set to launch two new channels to air English Premier League soccer after it acquired the rights to the games last month.
The broadcaster, which is a joint venture between pan European broadcaster Modern Times Group and Denmark's TV2, will launch TV2 Sport Premier League and TV2 Sport Premier League HD next month through Viasat's satellite pay-TV platform as well as third party IPTV networks. It will offer coverage of all 380 matches during the Premier League season, which it has the rights for the next three seasons.
"We are now the only pay-TV operator offering English Premier League football coverage on a pan-Scandinavian basis. This changes the Scandinavia pay-TV broadcasting landscape in terms of premium sports coverage," says MTG chief executive Hans-Holger Albrecht.
