LG TV sets in France are ‘Canal Ready’

All 2010 models of the LG TV sets for sale in France are being labeled ‘Canal Ready’ with immediate effect. Using the CI Plus slot, viewers will have access to the Canal+ channels and CanalSat bouquets without the need of an additional set-top box.
LG joins the lost of TV manufacturers with the Canal Ready label, which also includes Sony and Samsung. Earlier, LG also announced direct connectivity to the Canal+ VOD service on its Blu-ray players .
The Canal Ready functionality will allow owners of the set to access the digital terrestrial pay services from the Canal+ Group. This offer consists of the premium Canal+ channels (Canal+ HD, Canal+ Cinema and Canal+ Sport) and the TNT CanalSat bouquet (TF6, Paris Premiere, Eurosport, LCI and Planete).
This spring, Canal+ France has started tp offer Conditional Access Modules for reception of the group’s terrestrial pay channels suitable for use with Canal Ready labeled TV sets. The so-called ‘TNT Canal Ready’ modules are manufactured and marketed by ‘SmarDTV by Strong’. Using the CI Plus technology, the CAMs, together with a proper smart card, give access to all the terrestrial pay channels.
