The leading Latvian cable operator Baltkom is to take over the smaller network Televideotikls (TVT) for an undisclosed fee.
According to the former, the deal has been approved by the country’s Competition Council in the belief that it will increase the competition faced by the incumbent telco Lattelecom.
TVT began offering cable services in the capital, Riga, in 1989 and subsequently expanded to the cities of Ogre, Jelgava and Ludza. Its subscribers can now be expected to receive the wider range of services offered to Baltkom customers.
