The small Dutch cable operator SKV, serving the city of Veendam, has announced it now supports the CI Plus standard. The operator has also increased the number of HD channels included in its basic digital tier.
Following a network upgrade, subscribers can now use a CI Plus compatible receiver, including set-top boxes from Humax, Samsung and Digi 1 as well as TV sets from Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and LG. A complete list of suitable receiving equipment can be found on the SKV website.
The operator has also added five HD channels to its basic digital line-up; the channels being RTL 4 HD, SBS 6 HD, ARD Das Erste HD, ZDF HD and Arte HD. SKV is the first operator in The Netherlands to start distributing the German public channels ARD Das Erste HD and ZDF HD as well as the Franco-German culture channel Arte HD.
The cabler’s high definition offer already consists of Nederland 1 HD, Nederland 2 HD, Nederland 3 HD, Animal Planet HD, Discovery HD, National Geographic HD and BBC HD. The operator is also the first in The Netherlands carrying BBC HD on its net.
