In my country they are still busy with arresting rioters, so it will be quite a while before they come knocking on my door!

from what i know its the server host who gets the knock at the door, as there has been a few arrests in the uk but for cable servers.

In my country, cardsharing is an illegal act, but no one cares, and neither the police... Hell they have it too in their stations (I saw it with my own eyes)

Something like torrent downloading, but this (I think) is a much bigger crime :\

I'm not sure if I understand what you are saying!

From what I have been led to believe if you are a server in the UK you will be the one that will have their door knocked on first.

That is if they can trace you and you have been stupid enough to use a static ip!

My friend, there are tons of satellite pay tv providers here in Africa. The biggest and greediest among them being Multichoice Africa ( the owners of DSTV).
Africa has become a very fertile ground in recent times for satellite broadcasters with ever increasing satellite owners providing new sat beams to cover the continent effectively. The satellite footprint for KU band reception is very good with as little as 45cm dishes, you are good to go.

The severity varies from country to country. But the law will always seek the source of the problem, that is a fact and will always stay the same so the Card hosts will always carry the "greater" risk, but any sort of card sharing whether it is hosting or being a client will always be illegal.

Villager is right, but the fine can be high depending on where you live.
I read that 2 years ago some people where caught in France, they had paid a subscription on a server based abroad. Fine: 15000 euros per customer.

I think with the number of pubs in the UK still showing Prem League matches live on Saturday, they will still be prioritising that for the time being.

As for card sharing, I'm sure they will be concentrating their efforts on the people hosting the servers and cards as opposed to those at home like you and I. This of course could change in the future, but would be such hard work to track down.

If they want to find you they will first take actions against paid servers.
It is easier to get a list of all customers. This is one of the reason why I always was in favour of a protocol like gbox, which can't work in a centralised way.
Gbox can not operate as a pure server, CCCam can have both operating mode.

So if you want absolutely no risk use gbox.

The bottom line is, watching pay tv content without a valid subscription is termed "illegal".
The truth is that there is a loose monitoring process in most African countries because there is no legal framework on ground to enforce or address this kind of "illegality". Besides, any means of getting back at the pay tv providers for milking the people dry with over priced high subscription charges is seen as "fair".
