    Re: Risks of cardsharing

I still think that the risk of indivduals being caught is minimal, unless the authorities make an example of a few people, it would be more effective to shut down the servers and make the sale of equipment illegal, which I can't see happening.

Although intended to be a permanent and globally unique identification, it is possible to change the MAC address on most modern hardware. Changing MAC addresses is necessary in network virtualization. It can also be used in the process of exploiting security vulnerabilities. This is called MAC spoofing.

A host cannot determine from the MAC address of another host whether that host is on the same link (network segment) as the sending host, or on a network segment bridged to that network segment.

In TCP/IP networks, the MAC address of an interface can be queried knowing the IP address using the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) for Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) or the Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP) for IPv6. On broadcast networks, such as Ethernet, the MAC address uniquely identifies each node on that segment and allows frames to be marked for specific hosts. It thus forms the basis of most of the Link layer (OSI Layer 2) networking upon which upper layer protocols rely to produce complex, functioning networks

Hi doesn't your ip change any way if you switch off your modem over night the only way sites can recognise you is by the cookies you leave when visiting a site do a regular cookie clean and it will be harder for any to sniff you

i think the men in blue have greater powers than we all think, in an investigation you always see computors exiting the scene of crime to comfirm what they already know, from there data base, top people inteligence in forces.

i think they can only detect your ip when they raid the place where the server is.

I think that even if they find your ip. address they would still have to catch you actually watching paytv.

buying a subscription can be risky to, how many users paid an fake server goes running, try lines for a month first.
    then do your homework

The guy from Liverpool as someone else said was just being greedy. Apparently, he already had a job but decided that he wanted to sell more subscriptions and I surprised that they didn't prosecute him for tax evasion on top.
