    Astra 28.2°E - Weak signal

    Hello guys

The last month, I have a problem in receiving some channels.

For some reason in the evenings, I'm losing the signal on some channels

    For example in 12188 H 27500 5/6

I live in south Europe and I use to have very strong signal with my 140cm dish looking direct at Astra 28.2°E, but the last month there is a change in the strength of the signal.

I'm sure that my installation it's ok and nothing changed.

Is there any transfer of the transporters on the Astra 28.2°E ?

Something I have heard about it, but I'm not sure

Could you please someone explain to me what is going on?

Yes , a lot of frequencies have moved to the new Astra 2F which has a tighter footprint on the UK and later on 2E and 2G .

One other problem is that apparently 2A has been misfiring and losing power before the due date . That being said all these things combined will mean a lot of people out in the fringes will lose signal sooner than later .

I do not think that you will have any chance of receiving Astra 28E in your location, even with a 12ft dish. The footprint for this Sat is very tight, and all are directed to the UK & Ireland. there is no Widebeam footprint, and I would think that if you had a dish twice the size you would still struggle.

Re: Astra 28.2°E - Weak signal

@ kalpikos, This may help, at this time of year many people have loss of signal at certain times of the day, it is due to a slight change of inclination of the satellites. This year it has been worse then normal and some people lost signal completely but back to normal on Sunday.
With regard to the other moves on the 1st of June some transponders were transferred from Eutelsat 28a to Astra 2f UK beam, there are more to come because Eutelsat is moving from 28.2 east as son as possible.

2g is on its way to 28.2 east and will arrive ther within days and the final transfers will begin. All 3 satellites have very strong european wide beams and indeed 2g has even a wider beam.
But for me at the moment in Southern Spain, I have already lost the free UK beam channels some time ago. But for the rest my reception has improved and they are an easy catch here even on a 1mtr dish.
So we have to wait and see, fingers crossed and see which beam they all end up on.

            Hope this helps.

              @nml52,
your information about the Astra 28.2°E was very useful.

I used to have good reception almost on all frequencies with my 1.40 cm dish except from the Astra 2E the difficult beam and now I'm very disappointed

As you said, we have to wait until the final transfer.

2F does not have wide strong europian beam

Re: Astra 28.2°E - Weak signal

Astra 2g is now at 28.2 east and a lot of the transponder changes have now been done from Eutelsat 28.2 and Astra 2a These 2 are expected to move away early July, also some transfers between 2e,f and g. So a little way to go yet when the final transfers and final movements take place we will definitely know. But if you are still getting the premium channels on the European beams you will probably be ok.

For me I still cant get the UK spot beam but the dish needs tweaking so same as before. But the European beams I am getting between 84 and 100 signal strength.

There have been reports that some people can get the UK beam in Crete and Tenerife not confirmed.

Ps, how is it for you Kalpikos?

Re: Astra 28.2°E - Weak signal

A lot of the new transponders have been duplicated onto a European beam on 2G so i would imagine anyone outside the UK footprint who is getting any of the sky package is doing so from the 2G europe beam.

These transponders where negotiated with Eutelsat who are now going to put there old 28A bird out of commission when the transition is complete

                        hi guys

do we need to rescan, and if so: which tp's (or are they already on king of sats?)?

Yes you will need to rescan, all the transponder changes that we know about will be done by the 2nd or third of July but there could be more later. Have a look on flysat for the changes completed it is probably the most up to date.

But why not do a scan anyway?

                            always best to re-scan,

                            keeps box up to date.

I made a rescan but I have not a significant difference.

Only on discov.. shed the signal now is 94% from 40-45% last week.

But again, there are channels as the national geo which has 45% signal for some hours during the day but there are also intervals with no signal at all.

ITV and BBC channels have no signal.

Maybe I should renew the satellites.xml and try again.
