Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
Duo2 have plug and play tuners (Up to 4 tuners supported) and the Solo2 have 2 × S2 fixed tuners. The Duo2 have more RAM and Flash memory.
I think this are the questions: How many tuners to you need and how much money do you want to spend?
You can see all the specs of both at the bottom of the page:

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
Hello
If you need more than 2 tuners and also you have 150€ that you want to spend...
then you have to choose the duo2.
Believe me , that you will never see any difference in the memory or the generally the speed between them.
Buy a solo2 , keep the money and you will have everything you need.
Speed, 2 tuners, stability, transcoding and many others.
Be careful from where you will buy it , because of the clones. If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
I upgraded from my Dreambox 800 to Solo 2 duo and for me this box is very good i have one dish at 13 degree and to other tuner i have one motorized so yuo have pip and can see and record multiple chanel from different sat. or transponder. So yf you have money i think better the Duo2 both have good team _BHole or VTI and very strong hardwere configuration.Comment

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
Solo2 and duo2 both have 2 tuners, with the difference being that the duo2 has pluggable tuners allowing up to 4 tuners.
if you think you may need the extra tuners then the duo2 is the way to go.
there are some other differences, such as ram, vfd screen, etc. But I think the number of tuners you willl need should be the deciding factor.
I've had my solo2 for over a year and it's hardly skipped a beat. Cracking bit of kit.Comment

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
Transcoding is better for vu+duo2 but don't forget that there is a significant improvement for solo2 with the new driver each time.
So , I think that in the near future the transcoding will be perfect on solo2.If You Like My Post..... Please Press the Thanks ButtonComment

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
As far as I am aware the solo2 has software based transcoding whilst the duo2 is hardware based.
solo2 transcoding works perfectly fine, you can now change settings to suit your broadband speed and the fps. But the duo2 is slightly better quality.Comment

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
Go for the solo2 my friend and you will never regret.
Just avoid ebay , China's stores or other small stores in Europe with websites or blocks because there are many clones.
Don't prefer a very cheap store and also don't buy a second hand box.
Makes your buying from a verified big store and also make sure that the warranty of the receiver is valid for your country.
I would suggest you if it's possible to buy it from a local store and take a look on the box before you buy it.
Threre are some signs that can tell you if the box you are looking is clone or not.
Here you can find more info about clones and how you can avoid them

Re: Solo 2 or Duo 2
All said and done I have a VU Solo 2 and a Sunray SR4 800 SE and I must say the VU is not worth the premium on the price.
Yes it has a double tuner for PIP (which I never use), but the Sunray has DTT and wireless capability which makes it a better and cheaper choice.
Moreover, I am yet to understand the difference in processor speed which is not noticeable. If you think my post was helpful, please click the "thanks" buttonComment

as for difference in processor speed I notice a big difference. Loading plugins , epg download/parsing, etc.Comment
