BBC World News has seen its status changed in Lithuania and is now an encrypted service.
In a statement, the country’s Radio and Television Commission (RTK) says that, having considered all the circumstances, it agreed to a request from BBC World Distribution for the move.
In its request, BBC World Distribution said that BBC World News is a commercial news programme, funded by the BBC’s commercial entities’ distribution and marketing activities and separate from the publicly funded BBC.
As a result of the change in status, BBC World News will no longer be available as a FTA channel on the DTT service operated by the incumbent telco TEO LT.
