There should not be a need to "handle" this for all members, it could be scripted. The only thing that might be difficult in this case is the hashing of the password for the forum, I have no idea if the cs-server can use the same encrypting with the password (including a pre- and postsalting) as the webserver does.
But if more people from this forum come up with ideas there should come some usefull solution.

Using forum username and pass is a good idea.

... and who should handle this for all members ( the idea is a good one ),

it is a hobby-board and not a professional "lines for sale" we are talking about in this thread

Would it be possible to change the syntax of the lines to :
servernumber.satlover.eu port forumusername forumpassword
where the portnumber changes every day
If people have to use their login for the forum as login for the clines they will spread them around not that easy anymore.

Using forum username and pass is a good idea.

I would think it would start to narrow down the suspects over a period of time. if it is the same users regularly, also if they were dished out in say five lines. those lines could not be used again. this is only a idea probaly may not work.

I think what "fandm" has suggested plus, making the lines visible only if the "Thanks" button has been pressed, will show who has viewed the lines.
But again if 4 or 5 people have viewed the lines, how would you prove who has been sharing them around?

The only way to stop or keep it in check is if possible signin again to use the line pages and put a lock on how many lines can be copied in one visit if say it is 5 lines make them a block of 5 lines then when pasted on another site it would be easier to crosscheck
then people would have to hand copy by keyboard if they wanted more and people are usually lazy.

when on other boards that post clines,

i find myself, when lines are hidden ie > only member can view.

click on thread tools > printable version

this for me shows lines that are being posted, "most times"

the staff is very interested to see if our lines for members with 10 and more postings are spread over the net,

the lines for members with less than 10 postings are really to find everywhere,
a solution how to avoid this is in discussion since the first days of this board,
but we found until now no solution how to handle this without spending our whole free-time for line-control

I would stop publishing free clines in a protected web page.
Time to find a per-user cline distribution system, similar to private clines for >100 / > 600 posters.
We only have to find an automated system of clines generation, better if web based and well related to user's posts and activity.
I understand that an e-mail based system is too heavy to manage.
