Re: DM 800HD se clone
Thanks Gianni!
That's a relief
I tried df -kh, and I got:
So is the total physical memory = (/dev/root) + (tempfs) + (MemTotal)?Code:Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/root 60.0M 47.1M 12.9M 79% / tmpfs 64.0K 0 64.0K 0% /media tmpfs 64.0K 4.0K 60.0K 6% /dev /dev/sda1 3.7G 2.1G 1.6G 57% /media/usb tmpfs 67.1M 584.0K 66.5M 1% /var/volatile

Re: DM 800HD se clone
in my opinion, if you cool dm clone all time long, there is a lifetime warranty for it (except thunders or you gige manually a short circuit)
I think it would be of more interest to discuss if a vu clone is better quality than dm clone and this is a difficult choise to do if you plan to buy a new box.

Re: DM 800HD se clone
Linux kernel only uses a part of all physical available ram.
The remaining is allocated at boot time for other purposes.
For instance, try "df -kh" and you will see memory allocated for tmpfs filesystem.Leave a comment:

Re: DM 800HD se clone
You are checking memory usage: the box is using 137 of 256, isn't it?I bought DM 800HD se clone. Thanks all for your help.
There is something I'm worried about though:
When I check the memory using
I get:Code:cat /proc/meminfo
Shouldn't it be 256 MB or I am missing something?Code:MemTotal: 137348 kB ...
Can anyone who has it test this?

Re: DM 800HD se clone
Yes mate, that is good for you
but not all people has the ability to fix circuits by it self or to find a good repairer with low cost.Leave a comment:

Re: DM 800HD se clone
I agree mate: I've bought a bunch of low esr capacitors for few euros and when a power supply fails a can fix it in five minutes and 20 cents.

Re: DM 800HD se clone
Basing on my direct experience, 99% of problems are given by bad electrolytic capacitors.
Within this 99%, 90% are capacitors in psu unit, the rest in network section.
I don't think you will receive a good support from clone sellers, so you have to repair boxes by yourself (with a little skill in electronics and soldering),In face of this reports is better give more money and buy another box with good support from sellers. As said gianni253, the most problems are in motherboard.
Faulty capacitors or other electronic parts on the m/b is the main cause for the broken clones.
The network stop working, the tuner don't work properly, the box can't power up... and many other problems.
The psu also have very serious problems and must be changed after 1-2 years.
All these parts need a special electronic who know about SMD circuits and fixes in order to be repaired.
In many cases the money that the repair costs is higher that a new clone, so these broken clones go for rubbish.
When a small fix is needed, this can be done easy by someone who know some things in electronic circuits.

Re: DM 800HD se clone
another specification of china clones are the electric adapter is made from very poor material.
Also wanted to add, that there are 2 types of clones, original company clones: made in PRC and unregistered clones (radiation materials used as in toothpaste like Colgate).Leave a comment:
