Sorry, but under this condition it sounds like: mission impossible!
An older "non ht-tv" only supports 576i or perhaps the last ones 576p.

Perhaps 576p can help. But normaly the av-output has 576i. Only the old analogue y c b - three cable output had 576p.

Actually the box has an HDMI output which works properly with HD TV. I am trying to get it to work properly with non HD TV.
I played with settings in the A/V setup. Some settings like 480i removed the flicker altogether, but the image size and quality wasn't good.

I've an older sd-receiver which also has only an analogue-scart exit. I've connected a dvd-recorder with hdmi-exit between receiver and tv.

receiver -- scart -- dvd-recorder -- hdmi -- tv

In the dvd-recorder I use 720p as signal to hdmi.
Result: a much better picture quality at the tv and no flickering.

Do you have the chance to change to hdmi?

This defenitly means fbas-signal with 576i, and even some modern tvs have problems to display this signals without flickering.
The reason is the (often poor) deinterlace hardware for those signals because they are optimized for hdmi and hd signals.
Flickering with this adapter is not a failure of the receiver - you will have the same result if you use an original dreambox or a 40 Euro lowcost-box.
And real hd-signals are impossible with this.

So what do you suggest to get it to display properly on this TV?

I think you have problem because of editing the skin file.
Maybe something went wrong, maybe you made a mistake.

Try to use a skin with the proper aspect ratio for your tv and I think that your problem will be solved.

The TV I refer to is CRT TV.
On HD TV it works properly without any flicker.

Yes, it's exactly as you describe it, on horizontal edges.

Hi mate

If this flicker happens on whole screen, then maybe the cable you are using to connect the box with tv has some problem.
In this case try another cable to check it.

If the flicker happens only in the osd ... then maybe is something bad

Probably your box has a hardware malfunction.
The last you can try is to reflash your box with a new image.

It's only in few menus in the OSD, not the whole image. I think it's related to some font size (I have edited the skin file). Could this be due to interlacing?
