French pay-TV channel Canal+ claims its Facebook community now reaches 11.2 million fans, up 45% over one year.
In all, a fifth of Canalplus.fr traffic comes from social networks and it also boasts to have the biggest community on Facebook among French TV channels, and the most loyal too with 80% of fans coming back each month to follow the hundreds of pages Canal+ has opened on the social network.
Top-rated pages are those affiliated to programmes Le Sav (3 million), Bref (1.7 million) and Canal Football Club (1.2 million).
According to Canal+, the dynamics of Facebook can be boosted by a live or delayed video app linked to sport events as well as premieres on new TV series. Games applications are also developed around key programming.
