MBC-backed Al-Arabiya will launch a second all-news channel this week branded ‘Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath’.
The channel will cover events from across the Arab world and beyond, including politics, breaking news, sports, business and finance, local news, and other types of news and information. Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath may also air some content that originally appeared on Al-Arabiya News channel.
The aim of launching Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath is to provide a wider follow-up on the latest regional and international developments, which require continual coverage, Al-Arabiya General Manager Abd-al-Rahman al-Rashid said, in a report carried by BBC Monitoring.
Rashid said that Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath will be different than similar channels based on the fact that it will be managed by the same Al-Arabiya team, with the same editorial policy but with wider capabilities.
