Romania’s leading cable and DTH operator RCS&RDS will launch a news channel early next year.
According to Business-Review, it will offer hourly news bulletins, live transmissions of the day’s main events, talk shows and several show formats.
RCS&RDS, which faces strong competition from both UPC and Romtelecom, has been gradually building up its channel portfolio.
Aside from the movie-based Digi Film 1 and Digi Film 2, it also includes Digi Sport, Digi Info and the generalist 10 TV.
RCS&RDS also has a stake in Music Channel.
In a separate development, a Bucharest court has ruled that RCS&RDS has to include the sports channel GSP TV in its offer.
The National Audiovisual Council (CNA) fined RCS&RDS this autumn for refusing to distribute GSP TV, which is operated by the Antenna Group and has must carry status.
