BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” in 3D

BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” in 3D
    By Chris Forrester

In what is being seen as a major boost to pre-Christmas buyers of 3D sets, the BBC has confirmed that the final of Strictly Come Dancing will be shown in 3D to terrestrial and satellite viewers.

The Dec 17th final, broadcast live from Blackpool’s iconic Tower Ballroom, will be transmitted in 3D on the BBC’s HD channel, while high-definition signals will go out on the BBC One HD channel.

Additionally, special ‘Strictly’ evenings are being held at about a dozen Odeon and Apollo cinemas, again showing the event in 3D.

The BBC will use at least six 3D cameras although experiments currently taking place could boost this final number.

Totaly agree. Wouldn't watch prats dancing about in 2D let alone 3D. "Cheap" programing that isn't cheap.

Have to agree with the comments on this thread, the BBC are constantly moaning about a lack of funds and then waste money on something that will only be watched by a small percentage of the country. Would be interesting to know how many viewers actually watch in 3D.

This broadcast is merely to try and sell the 3D to viewers who may not have it or have got a new TV over xmas. As I have stated elsewhere, I am highly sceptical that 3D tv will ever be dominant in the market and be seen as a must have.
