OTE to launch DTH service in October

Greek telco OTE plans to go ahead with the launch of its DTH service, OTE TV, in early October, according to local reports.
The new service will provide a DTH alternative to MultiChoice Hellas’s Nova platform. OTE reportedly will offer a basic package of 48 channels for under €20. The service will broadcast from Eutelsat’s Eurobird satellite at 9° East. HD channels offered will include that of state broadcaster ERT and OTE’s own OTE Sport HD channel.
OTE TV will be broadcast using MPEG-4 compression. Encryption is being provided by N.DS.
