The Polish national commercial broadcaster TVN has acquired a 25% stake in Stavka, which holds the licence to operate a new DTT channel named U-TV, for PLN1,095,000 (€264,200).
The deal forms part of a strategic alliance between the two parties in the areas of technology, advertising and programming.
It will see TVN provide know-how in the production and broadcast operations of U-TV, which will be added to the Premium TV offer.
Ad sales for the latter are handled through the TVN Group, and U-TV will gain access to the group’s programme archive and news and information productions.
Stavka is owned by BESTA-Film Group and secured a licence to operate U-TV, which will be an interactive and social affairs channels, on the first DTT multiplex, in April this year.
