AndroidDreamer (Andr) - now with 3G - the 0.3 beta

    Hello,

3rd place here AndroidDreamer beta - now with streaming remotely. The news is that I have included the "sout" which are suitable for streaming using VLC, with 3G/HDSPA/WIFI.

We also place a procedure how to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on the PC that runs VLC. The use of a VPN connection has the advantage of being well enough to secure (protected by password ), you should only open a port on the router (instead of 3) and then solves many problems related to the RTSP protocol, which is hardly compatible with Most of the routers on the market. The guide at the moment is for Win7 (and Vista). A guide for XP but will follow the procedure is more or less the same if you already want to try. The procedure is done only once.

Note: To use VPN (over the setup procedure in place apart) you simply select VLC as the type of streaming on the main form of Andr (VLC remote is not activated and is not needed). In addition, for the parameters under settings, you must use local IP addresses - no need to add a DynDNS address since once you have successfully connected via VPN you are already on your LAN.

As usual, let me know if it works. I and other beta-testers have tested streaming remotely from a bit 'of days and generally works well. I take this opportunity to thank the members SifTeam dalbertazzi65 and Pomis for testing done.

    Place here the updated instructions

This beta release Supports streaming (locally and remotely over LAN 3G/HDSPA/WIFI) Both for Enigma and Enigma 2. Remember That AndroidDreamer is very simple in this moment and does not yet support other features Such as HTTPS (SSL), EPG , Remote Control, Timer, etc. Management. It Was Written Quickly to test streaming.

For streaming remotely over 3G/HDSPA/WIFI, please Carefully read the attached PDF-Which guides will explain how to set up a VPN connection. The advantage of a VPN-connection Is that you only need to open one port in your router (INSTEAD OF 3) That and it is secured by a password . The use of a VPN Also Resolves (in Most cases) the problems related to using RTPS with routers / firewalls Which Often Does not work with very common routers Unless very advanced.

You can choose Between vPlayer or VLC. The advantage of vPlayer, Other Than excellent quality, Is that there is no need for a separate computer with VLC transcoding-working as a server. However, vPlayer can not be installed on all devices and in this case VLC is the only option. Also this is true for remote-streaming (3G).

Note: This is a BETA and May many errors occur. For instance, if you do not Have vPlayer installed on the device, DO NOT select vPlayer as type of streaming. The application will give you error-messages. This is Because there is very little error-handling in Andr incorporated in this moment. Gradually it will be added while the application gets Developed further.

    Instructions:

(HD2-users for HTC Android-running builds, see note at the buttom of this file)

    1) on the device, ENSURE That in settings and applications "unknown sources" are enabled

    2) Copy the apk on the device and install (use a file-explorer Such as Astro or other)

    3) When the application starts the first time, You Are Prompted to fill in your parameters. I have filled in Some dummy-date. Them According To change your parameters. Click on save thereafter. If you are not planning to use VLC then you can leave the parameters Regarding VLC as they are. Note: the parameters are the Same When using the VPN-connection and Thus there is no need for dyndns-addresses in this screen - just use your local IP addresses.

    4) On the main screen, click on Type of Streaming. You can select Between vPlayer or VLC (for Both LAN and 3G). Also there is a special option for VLC (remote) available But It Has Been disabled in this release. If you decide to use vPlayer make sure to download the latest version from the market before Trying to stream.

5a) If you selected vPlayer, then click on View Bouquets, select a channel and confirm streaming When Prompted. At this point, vPlayer Should open up automatically with streaming.

5B) If you use VLC, then VLC must be installed on a PC That will act as a VLC-server (server-transcoding). Follow These Instructions for VLC:

    a) Install VLC (I have tested with VLC 5.1 and 1.15) on a computer. I have only tested Windows But It Might work on Linux and Mac as well.

    b) Start VLC, go to View -> Add Interface -> Web Interface

    c) The following Might or Might not be necessary.:
    - If you get errors-connections, then in the videolan-folder (C: \ Program Files \ VideoLAN \ VLC \ http) in your computer, open the file. "Hosts" in a text editor.Remove the hash sign (#) in front of the private addresses of your local network (usually "192.168.0.0/16" or "192.168.1.0/16"). You Can Also remove the hash sign in front of 0.0.0.0 / 0. Save the file.

    d) if you are going to stream remotely, then click on Settings and VPN-connect to your home network - see the PDF-guide For instructions to set up VPNs. If you are going to stream Within your LAN, then there is no need to click on VPN Settings and you can go directly to next step.

    e) click on View Bouquets

    f) select Bouquet and channel

    g) click on a channel and you will get a message Asking If You Want to stream. Say yes

    h) select Souto (Several options are there - for use Within your LAN, try using MP4V, H.264 (vb512) or H264 (vb256). If you are streaming remotely, then use the souts You Should HAVING 3G In Their name Such as H264 (3Gvb192). The name in the vb + indicates the bitrate Being used. Higher bitrate Requires a faster connection. If you have a fast upload connection at home and in fast on your device, you can souts Also try the other (without 3G In Their names).

    i) if everything works, you Should see streaming

Please note That AndroidDreamer When exiting, using the back button on your regular-Android-device, VLC will stop the stream. This is important, Especially For Enigma2 WHERE Com channel-change can be blocked (normal behavior). If you want, you can use the kill VLC / Stream button as well.

Please report if AndroidDreamer works for you, Indicating Which Which Dreambox Android-device and you are using.

Note for HD2-users: If you are running an Android-build (like I do), please note That settings-parameters will be empty the first time you run Andr. Fill in your parameters and then save your settings. Regards What the VLC-parameters, the DST-port 5554 and HTTP Should Be Should Be-port 8080.

A thank you costs nothing, but it is precious ...
