You are brilliant. That works 100 percent. That has been the main reason to keep a windows computer so I can easily communicate with dreambox, goodbye windows now I hope.
    Thanks for your trouble.

you got that under "connection type"
there is a checkbox with "No Check"

    check it.

If I don't check it I got a : "Error 10057in function Send Socket is not connected"

And as said, don't forget to modify your hosts file to have the proper computer IP appear in the combo list under "This Computer"

Don't hesitate to ask if I wasn't clear enough...

you need to be root to run it (because some of it run ICMP to test the network)
you need to properly setup /etc/hosts to replace the 127.0.0.1 line for a line with your correct IP

under DCC disable the network tests... and it works
    DreamboxEdit : OK
FlashWizard : I've tested an image backup : OK...

so it seems Wine is definitely the way to have Dreambox tools under Linux
Where abouts is the network test setting in dcc, I cant seem to find any reference to it.

Be careful for Dreambox 500s DCC enigma 1, for dreambox 500 hd ,800hd ,se use DCC-E2

    Re: DCC and Linux

    hmm..
I've tried to run it under Debian Squeeze....
    not easy at all...

i had to add some lines to /etc/apt/sources.list

    then
    # aptitude update; aptitude install libglib1.2-dev libgtk1.2-dev
    # ln -s /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf.so.2

Now you can run the program, don't forget to choose a com port (even if you don't use it..., or you'll get : "unable to open COM-Port, Aborting"...

So ok for DreamUP but for DCC, you can run it under Wine :

you can scp files to the dbox
    scp yourfile root@ipofthdbox:/path
root password : dreambox (on a gemini)

you can also ftp files (using Filezilla for example)
