Right click the parent folder of "movie" and choose Properties, then click on the "Sharing" tab. type in "dreambox" for the "Share name".
TIP - If using a FAT32 partition for storage, your file size is restricted to 2GB. So ensure your Dreambox Record settings are 2GB or lower per part.

This is where you need to enter in the settings for the Dreambox to access the PC. Make sure cifs is selected and you will need to change the IP to match your PC's on your LAN then enter the directory as dreambox, the local directory as /hdd and the username of dream and password of dream. Be sure to enable automount so the Dreambox will establish the connection everytime it's restarted.
Once the information is entered in, be sure to save it, and then mount it. If it works, it will say success. If it fails, it will say failure - so re-read this and figure out where you went wrong. You can now record to your pc, and access your PC in the Dreambox File mode under /hdd
now you can record to your pc just by pressing the record button on your remote and playback the file just by selecting file mode from the dreambox remote control.
to play downloaded avi's all you need to do is setup vlc and set it to run as a system file so it runs in the background when you bootup the pc(this of course is optional)
then install the vlcf 1.80 plugin and thats it you can now stream avi's to you box.
there are plenty of posts from myself and TNT(mainly in the 7020 section i think)on how to set this up that explain fully how to edit the vlcf.xml file and how to setup vlc 0.8.6 properly so all you ever have to do to watch an avi is startup the plugin and select your desired avi.if you wish to use vlc 0.9.9 then the setup is somewhat different and a little more complicated.i suggest you stick with 0.8.6 as its far more stable.
