An application and userspace driver for home automation devices
Shion (and included userspace driver) implements portions of the INSTEON command set and helps users build a list of devices that may be controlled remotely.
Here are some key features of "Shion":
· Native support for INSTEON devices.
· Native Intel and PowerPC binaries.
· AppleScript Interface.
· Web Interface and XML API.
· Remote Interface (Apple Remote).
· Growl Support.
· Auto-updates via Sparkle.
· Scheduling Support via iCal.
Requirements:
· SmartHome PowerLinc USB
Limitations:
· The AppleScript, RemoteBuddy, XMPP dialog, and other non-GUI interfaces remain unimplemented.
· The DVR, Bluetooth, GPS, and camera devices have not yet been implemented.
· The menu items leading to Shion web pages remain incomplete, pending the completion of the new Shion website.
· Networked controller support (SmartLinc, EZServe) is not present in this release.
· There are a variety of minor UI bugs in the device display and in general when running on 10.4 Tiger.
· Sprinkler support is currently missing.
· Changes in the device configuration from the preferences panel (modem & controllers) require an application restart to take effect.
· You will need to reenter your devices, as the migration code is not yet complete.
What's New in This Release:
· Improved main pane UI. Snapshots and triggers are now visible in the history views. Furthermore, you can now click devices in the history view to navigate to the actual device.
· The Events window has been fleshed out to allow filtering per device, trigger, and snapshot.
· Bug fixes in the Shion framework to address broken thermostat functionality.
