Take your home network with you
Slink represents a very easy method to remotely connect to your home network in order to use iPhoto, iTunes, screen, file and print sharing.
Here are some key features of "Slink":
· Slink is the easy way to remotely connect to your home network.
· All shared services on your home network automatically appear in the Finder, iTunes, iPhoto, and other applications. (Just as they do at home!)
· Network Magic - Mac OS X makes it easy to share services—such as iTunes, iPhoto, files and printers—to other computers on your home network.
· Slink makes your home network appear to be connected even when you are away. Almost any service that use Bonjour is magically made available from anywhere.
· Easy. No PhD required - Slink's advanced technology takes care of all the tricky network stuff. No need to know about NAT, dynamic or static DNS, IP addresses and ports.
· Install the Slink Preference Pane on a Mac in your home network. Install Slink on the Mac that you use remotely. Done.
What's New in This Release:
· Enhancement: Slink now provides a SOCKS proxy service on the standard port 1080. This is a requested enhancement targeted at advanced users that want to proxy traffic to, or via, their home network. For example, users can proxy Safari traffic to their home network by configuring the SOCKS proxy setting in System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Proxies. The SOCKS proxy server should be configured as 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and the port should be configured as 1080.
· Enhancement: Slink now supports Wake on Ethernet. If you require this enhancement, please ensure that you upgrade the Slink System Preferences Pane using the installer and not using automatic updates. (The installer must update a framework that unfortunately cannot be handled using automatic updates.)
· Enhancement: Slink has been enhanced to better support remembering passwords in the keychain when using services such as Screen Sharing and Apple File sharing on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
· Bug fix: Slink failed to recognize ...
