Ubuntu Happy Birthday!
A October 20 but in 2004, that is just 7 years ago was born the first final version of Ubuntu which was called Warty Warthog.
With this release, the leader of Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth, made the announcement.
Since its birth with the slogan "made by the Human Beings for the Human Beings" (made by humans for humans) as a flag, Ubuntu wanted to show that GNU / Linux is an OS only for people with computer skills.
Today, after 7 years, I think this is the greatest merit of Ubuntu.
The names of the different versions since its inception were:
4.10 - Warty Warthog
5.04 - Hoary Hedgehog
5.10 - Breezy Badger
6.06 - Dapper Drake (LTS)
6.10 - Edgy Eft
7.04 - Feisty Fawn
7.10 - Gutsy Gibbon
8.04 - Hardy Heron (LTS)
8.10 - Intrepid Ibex
9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope
9.10 - Karmic Koala
10.04 - Lucid Lynx (LTS)
10.10 - Maverick Meerkat
11.04 - Natty Narwhal
11.10 - Ocelot oneiric
As you can see from the version 6.06, has been followed in alphabetical order and already announced the name of the next version will be called Precise Pangolin 12.04 and will be every 2 years as the new LTS version.
